I am a graduate of the MFA Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College. Which is to say, I’m a rock hound; I have wanted my own gravel pit since I was ten.
Here’s a poem about that:

Poetry
I empty pocketfuls of attractive stones
into my tumbler (polishing can take forever).
The sound of them inside the drum
is my rainstick, or the rattle of a small
window, its sill lined with beach glass
lets in more light. On my dashboard
they add good clatter to dull drives.
I set them on high shelves and embed them
in the aggregates. Slices of my best agates
will soon display from here to nowhere.
